About Me
My Story
For as long as I can remember, babies have always made my heart beat faster.
When I was little, whenever I went to Sears with my mother, I would head straight for the baby section to dream in front of the tiny pajamas, little blankets, and strollers. And when the big catalogue arrived at home, I would sit down with a pencil and circle all the baby items, just like a real mom preparing her list.
As soon as I was old enough, I became a babysitter. I would also go help my cousins with their babies, always the first to offer to rock them, change a diaper, or feed them a bottle. Taking care of little ones has always come naturally to me, and I loved every moment.
And the entrepreneur in me woke up very early too! At five years old, I made little bracelets that I tried to sell to my aunts. In high school, I started sewing: I made hair scrunchies, which I sold on Facebook along with handmade jewelry. I learned to sew quietly by my mother's and stepmother's side, who patiently passed on their knowledge to me.
Today, it's my turn to be a mom. And that little girl who circled the Sears catalogue and sold her bracelets has finally realized her dream: having her own boutique. Every item is designed with the same wonder as back then, and with the eye of a mom who knows what really matters day to day.
🌱 A local boutique, since 2019
Pekaboo Collection was born in 2019 in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton, as an online boutique for baby items designed and made in Quebec. At that time, I sewed every single item myself.
Then COVID arrived. Requests for masks started pouring in, and I said yes. That's when everything changed: a first seamstress joined me, then a second, then a third. And I'll be honest with you: my seamstresses are really, really better than me! Where it took me forever to finish an item, they are real machines! They know exactly how to do it: their seams are straight, their finishes are perfect... let's just say that for the quality of your items, it's excellent news that I'm no longer behind the sewing machine! 😄 Since then, I've found my true place: management, and watching my business grow. My seamstresses have magic fingers, and I'm so grateful to have them on this adventure.
Over the years, the boutique continued to grow naturally, thanks to you. For two or three years, I welcomed you by appointment in my workshop, at home. It was a beautiful way to meet you in person, but it didn't allow me to open my doors to everyone.
🏬 A new location, still ours
🤍 During my maternity leave, the boutique is open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Thank you for your understanding!
Today, Pekaboo Collection is taking a very special step: the opening of a commercial location, still in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton.
📍 2543, chemin du Moulin, Saint-Denis-de-Brompton
This new space allows me to welcome you:
- without an appointment, on certain days of the week, according to the schedule published on the website and on social media;
- by appointment, for parents whose schedule does not match.
A formula designed to adapt to the real life of parents.
⏰ Why isn't the boutique open 7 days a week?
The answer is simple and honest: Pekaboo Collection is a small business run by a single person, a mom entrepreneur.
My seamstresses take care of the manufacturing, but I take care of everything else: management, customer service, the online store, content creation, product sheets for every new arrival, logistics, marketing, and the presence in the store. It's a lot of hats, and I wear them with pride!
My partner and I are also a couple of entrepreneurs, always involved in several projects at once, which sometimes leads me to be away. And since local labor is precious and expensive, I cannot yet hire an employee.
It's a thoughtful choice, made with heart. It allows me to continue having my products made here, in Quebec, rather than abroad, to keep fair prices and, above all, to preserve a beautiful balance between work and my family life.
Looking forward to seeing you in the store, and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting a small local business. 🤍
